Mr.Narendra Modi
In many interviews to various TV channels, Mr Narendra Modi explained his method of functioning.
First he selects an objective say Improvement in Child education.
Secondly, he calls all his bureaucrats and ministers and holds marathon meetings running to six to eight hours during which he never speaks his mind but keeps listening to every view.
He encourages every participant to give his recommendation freely and fearless.
His lunch break is just 15 mins.
Back to work.
Thirdly, after patiently listening to all views like a typical CO of an Army unit he gives his final orders.
No change thereafter and everyone is expected to produce results.
Fourthly, he holds review meetings to see progress.
Fifthly, he goes in middle of hot summer of Gujarat with his entire cabinet and officials from village to village for whole one month motivating parents to send their children to schools.
The admission rate into schools has shot up from 26% to 100% in just two years. That's how he has been able to get work out of his ministers and bureaucrats with no experience in administration when he took over as CM in 2001.
Another success story of full recovery of electricity dues is to make Ex-Servicemen responsible to collect dues. Now there are no defaulters.
Another trait of NaMo is to delegate full authority to honest bureaucrats to do whatever they want to achieve the objective set by NaMo.
That's how bureaucracy in Gujarat has been rated as the best comparable to any bureaucracy in the world.
He is thoroughly non corruptible.
His younger brother who is a Class II officer in the Public Relations Dept in Gujarat Secretariat has never met his CM brother even once officially in the CM chambers from 2001 to 2014. It is reported that when a very senior IAS officer took this brother to a meeting in CM's office, NaMo chided the officer not to bring such junior officials to CM meetings in future.
His mother lives in a 8 ft x 8 ft room in Gandhi Nagar with her younger son.
They go to polling both in auto rickshaw to caste votes with the brother sitting with the auto driver and mother, wife and two children sitting in passenger seat of auto.
NaMo meets his mother twice a year to seek her blessings.
His only sister Vasanti meets him only during Rakshabandhan to tie rakhi to her CM brother.
His wife Jashoda Ben lives with her brother and sustains herself with her meagre pension of Rs 14,000 pm.
Her sister - in - law runs a grocery store named Modi General Store as big as 6 ft x 4 ft at Unjh, 130 kms from Ahmedabad and from the photo one can make out the daily sales from this grocery store would not be more than Rs 2,000 per day.
Sir, the most touching of the entire family is that they do not seek or expect any favours from their CM sibling.
They are not very sure whether they will ever be invited to his swearing in ceremony expected to be on 21 May 2014.
His wife when asked told the person that she never expected to live in 7 Race Course Road ever.
He carries his own lunch when he moves out to cut down time wasted on lavish lunches organised by village officials.
Can any foreign defence company dare to offer bribe to NaMo?
So no defence deals would be prolonged for decades and cancelled if expected payments are not received by 10 Janpath.
My guess is all deficiency in operational equipment of all three services will be made good in three years time.
Congress party would never have made up the defis.
I do share your enthusiasm of veterans getting their legitimate dues soon.
