2 temples Mallikarjuna Temple Singeri & Annapoorneshwari Temple Horanadu ( Karnataka

 

At a distance of 1 Km from Sringeri Bus Stand, Sri Mallikarjuna Temple (also called as Mahanikareshwara Temple) is situated on top of the Mallappa Hill.

The large black-stone Shiva Linga worshipped in this temple is believed to be swayambhu (self manifested). The Linga stands over the site of sage Vibhandaka's disappearance from the mortal world and called Malahanikareswara. Bhavani Devi temple located in the same compound is believed to be built by Sri Sachidananda Swamiji. Sri Abhinava Nrisimha Bharati (1600-1623) drew a figure of Lord Ganesha with a piece of turmeric on a pillar. This image is called Kambada Ganapati.

The temple can be reached through 150 well laid steps. Early mornings or late evenings are ideal to be at the top. The Rathotsava festival celebrated on the next day of Mahashivaratri is very famous. On Kartika Poornima day Deepothsavam is celebrated in a grand scale.

The Annapoorneshwari Temple(Kannada: ಹೊರನಾಡು ಅನ್ನಪೂರ್ಣೆಶ್ವರಿ ದೇವಾಲಯ) is located at Horanadu India 

100 km from Chikmagalur in the thick forests and valleys of the Western Ghats 

of Karnataka. Also called "Sri Kshethra Horanadu", it is situated on the banks of river Bhadra

The main deity of the goddess was put in place by Adi Shankaracharya; the new deity of goddessAnnapurneshwari was consecrated in the temple in 1973.
 

The main deity of Annapoorna is made of gold. It is believed that a person who seeks the goddess' blessings would never have any scarcity for food in life. It is believed that Lord Shiva once had a curse and that this curse was reversed when the lord visited Goddess Annapoorna and sought her blessings.

Mahamangalarathi prayer will be offered every day at 9:00 am, 1:30 pm and at 9:00 pm. Kunkumarchana pooja starts every day at 11:00 am and at 7:00 pm
