THE TRUE GRIT AND COURAGE CAN CONQUER THE IMPOSIBLE- SALUTATIONS TO SATYEN DAS WHO MADE ALL INDIANS PROUD

2500 Kms, rough terrain, steep uphill roads, freezing temperatures, no mountain gear - just an old rusty rickshaw, and a rock strong will power to chase one's dream. Isn't our country full of inspiring women and men ?

Satyen Das, a dream personified. A rickshaw puller embarked on a journey of his lifetime to ferry his dreams through surmountable impediments to conquer the impossible. This man was on a mission to scale the highest motorable road at Khardung La on his humble rickshaw. He started his journey from Kolkata on the 11th of June, 2014 and pedaled his way through 2500 km to reach Leh. You can see here that clad in an oversized purple jacket, with the tri-color fluttering over his rickshaw, here was a man defying all odds, smiling and spreading the message of World Peace. To get a sense of his achievement, the last 40 km from Leh to Khardung La takes you from an altitude of 11, 500 ft to 18, 380 ft and to do so in a mountain bike is considered a tough ask even for experienced cyclists/bikers. Now imagine a gearless rickshaw, with all his belongings stacked in the boot being pedaled through freezing temperatures across rugged mountainous terrain. You need nerves of steel and sheer grit and determination to accomplish such feat. No wonder, this should find its way in the record books. If you too feel the same, spread the word and let the world know of the Modest Rickshaw Puller... Please share it so that more and more people know about this man and his efforts !!
