Dear all,
1.PrAtassandhyAvandanam is to be performed in between the setting of the nakshatra jyoti and the Suryodaya. In other words, it has to be commenced when the nakshatra-sare still visible. The last two yAma-s of the night are considered as the beginning of the sandhyAkAlam. Rsis consider the descending rays of Sun in the western direction as the end of sandhyA. SAyamsandhyAvandanam will have to be performed when the Sun is still visible.
2.During sandhyAkalam, sandhyAdevi is to be worshipped.SAyamsandhi should not be performed after sunset. So also prAtassandhyAvandanam should not be done after sunrise. It is said that the Trinity-Brahma,Vishnu andMahesa worship goddess of SandhyA. That being the case, how can dvija-s ignore the nityakarma?
3.TrikAlasandhyAvandanam refers to prAtassandhyA, MAdhyAnhikam and sAyam sandhyAvandanam. PrAtasandhyA and MAdhyAnhikam can be done after taking snAnam as prescribed in SAstra-s. All the karma-s prescribed in Veda-s and Dharma SAstra-s are to be performed only after taking snAnam.
4.It is said that a BrAhmana performing
otherdharmakarma-s without performing sandhyAnushtAnamwill suffer in innumerable Naraka-s(hell). It is also said that if a dvija abandons sandhyAkarma, he is ineligible to do other vaidika karma-s and that other dvija-s should exclude him from vaidika karma-s.
5.Those who perform this steadfastly as prescribed are said to be freed from all sins and they are said to attainBrahmaloka.
6.Sins committed during night by body mind and vAk get wiped out by performing prAtasandhi with prAnAyamam etc. and GAyatri Japam in the standing posture. Similarly, by performing sAyamsandhyA with shraddhA in the sitting position, one can get the sins committed during daytime by his body, mind and vAk wiped off.
